Abstract

Tourism is a complex sector that revitalizes other sectors such as transport, trade or communications. For a locality,

development through tourism would generate income, attract investors and create new jobs. Development through tourism

is an opportunity for economic and social revitalization of the city. The paper aims to identify the opportunities for economic

development through tourism of a small or medium-sized locality in Romania and determine the perception of the local

community towards such a development direction. For this purpose, a quantitative market research was conducted. The

results obtained reveal that the community’s attitude is positive regarding this type of development.
